teenspace2Erie is the place to be for teens and the Teen Space at the Blasco Library! If you’re a teenager in grades 6 – 12, Teen Services at the Erie County Library has you covered.  We have programs created just for teens. Whether you’re into games, poetry, crafts, anime, or more, there’s something for you!

Join our Teen Advisory Board (TAB)


Who can join? Teens, age 13- 17, from any school district in Erie County, are eligible to join the ECPL TAB.

What will teens do on the TAB? Help the library stay current with teen trends and hot topics. Advise the library on collections, programs and services. Suggest, plan, execute and attend programs. Connect with TAB’s from other library branches. Publicize and promote programs.

Why should I join? Make new friends and have fun while building teamwork and leadership skills. Earn community service hours which make a REAL difference in your community and get a free TAB t-shirt.

When does TAB meet? TAB meetings and events vary in schedule. Check the events calendar at www.erielibrary.org or call Teen Services at 814-451-6904 for more information.

HOW to join:

  • An informational meeting will be held on Saturday, January 14th from 2-4 PM.  Applications will be available at the meeting. Complete and return the application to the Erie County Library.

WHEN do TABs meet?

  • Meetings will be held once a month with additional program times that will vary.

EXAMPLES of TAB Activities:

Movie Events, Book Clubs, Anime Events, Open Mike Poetry Events, Graphic Novel/Manga Advisors, Teen Book Reviewers, Teen Focus Groups Advising on Teen Spaces, Fundraisers, Read –A –Thons, Gaming Tournaments, Author Events, DDR events and more!

Winter 2017… The Return of TRL!

teen-2Ms. Marvel: No Normal. We will explore the graphic novel format, create your own superhero character and write your own story.  We will also celebrate with a superhero cosplay party.

Dates for the lounges are Thursday nights starting on January 12th at the Blasco Library from 6-7:30 PM

The lounge will meet from 6-7:30 PM on 1/12, 1/19, 1/26, and 2/2.  

Space is limited to teens age 13-17 and registration is required.  Teens may register at library-teenservices@eriecountypa.gov or 451-6927.

Teen Reading Lounge is an interactive book club for teens ages 12-17 at the Blasco Library. This isn’t your average book club—teens get to tell us how to run it! Teens will meet every other week for exciting discussions and hands-on activities.

Teen Reading Lounge is a program of the Pennsylvania Humanities Council, developed in part by federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds administered by the Office of the Commonwealth Libraries, and supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
