Winter/Spring 2017 Computer Classes

Computer Classes are available at the Blasco Memorial Library in the Blasco Computer Training Lab located on the 2nd Floor.

We offer general computer classes and classes focusing on Microsoft Office Suite products. All classes require registration by calling any branch of the Erie County Public Library  or emailing library-reference@eriecountypa.gov. There is a $5 charge per class.

Funding for computer classes at the Blasco Library  is provided by the Friends of the Erie County Library.

Excel I: Become familiar with the basic functions of Microsoft Excel and learn how to create a spreadsheet and format information.

Excel II: Build on the concepts learned in Excel I and learn more about working in a spreadsheet using Microsoft Excel. Entering and sorting data, sizing columns/rows, formatting, adding cells to data list and making simple calculations may be covered.

Word I: Learn how to use Microsoft Word to work with documents (opening, creating, modifying, saving and more) and to become familiar with the MS Word’s basic functions.

Word II: Build on the skills learned in Word I and learn how to set up a document using page set-up, headers and footers, page numbers, columns and lists.

Intro to Access:  Learn how to create a simple database and become familiar with the basic functions of Microsoft Access.

PowerPoint: Learn how to use Microsoft PowerPoint to create a presentation with text, graphics, animation, and design, then learn how to view, save and print.

Publisher: Learn to use Microsoft Publisher to create professional-looking signs and flyers.

Mail Merge: Learn to create mailing labels easily in Microsoft Word using Excel. If you are planning to do a mass mailing soon, take this class first!

Files & Folders: Learn how to perform basic file management skills such as creating, moving, renaming and deleting files.

Windows I: Learn to work with the Windows operating system or learn simple tasks such as how to resize and manipulate Window and rearrange the desktop.

Windows II: Go further with Windows. Learn how to use your control panel, add user accounts, and personalize your computer

Intro to Computers & Internet I: Learn how to use basic mouse and keyboard functions to maneuver around the computer screen and how to use various icons and menus. Basic keyboarding taught and learn how to navigate the Internet.

Intro to Computers & Internet II: Build on the skills you learned in Intro to Computers and the Internet I. Learn more about how to use basic mouse and keyboard functions to maneuver around the computer screen and how to use various icons and menus. Basic keyboarding taught and learn how to navigate the Internet.

Intro to Laptops: Learn the basics laptop computing.
