Summer Reading Program Schedule (PDF)

Preschool Storytime is designed for children ages three to five. This storytime consists of approximately 40 minutes of stories, films, flannel boards, finger plays and other activities.

Toddler Storytime is designed for our youngest listeners, from age 18 months to 3 years. It consists of about 20 minutes of stories, flannel boards, songs, puppets and finger plays. Parents sign up for a four-week session. Adults will participate in activities, so comfortable dress is recommended. It is hoped that you can attend regularly since activities one week are often dependent on those shared the week before. To prepare a toddler for storytime, you may wish to discuss going to the library ahead of time. If your toddler becomes restless or upset during storytime, simply step outside the storytime room for a few minutes to help the child focus on the activities once again.

Family Storytime is designed for children of all ages and an adult. It consists of 40 minutes of stories, films, songs and other activities.

Drop In Crafts are designed for ages three through ten, children and parents are welcome anytime between 2 PM and 4 PM in the storytime room to make a creative craft.

Storytime Guidelines
To make your storytime experience a happy time, we ask your cooperation and assistance in the following ways:

1. Young children are easily distracted, and latecomers become the focus of attention. Please plan to arrive at least five minutes early.

2. If your child becomes restless or uncooperative, please step outside for a few minutes. This helps everyone concentrate on the storytime program.

3. Preschool and toddler storytimes are planned for specific ages. Please try to make other arrangements for siblings.

4. Plan to check out books for your child to take the storytime experience home with you.

5. Storytime adults should save their conversations until after storytime.

6. Explain to you child beforehand what to expect and how to behave during storytime. Help out during storytime by modeling that behavior.
