2017 Artist in Residence

Erie Artist Roman Glass has been selected as our Erie County Public Library 2017 Artist in Residence! Born and raised in Erie, PA, Roman and his wife, Kristen, are artists and entrepreneurs who own No Dress Code Studios, located at 1001 State Street in the Renaissance Centre.

Roman began his career as an artist about 15 years ago. He studied in New York and Florence, Italy, during the duration of his art career, and he has had the opportunity to both work and study with amazing artists. His niche is fine arts and cartoon work. Since launching his career as a screenprinter, he has worked with the owners of Jr.’s Last Laugh, the Erie Art Museum, Erie’s TEDx event, as well as participating in many other local Erie events.

Roman’s Library Residency will offer three different classes as well as drop-in events. Classes will be based on a few key notes of what screenprinting is, how it’s done, and what you can accomplish with it. Roman’s goal is to emphasize the NO LIMITS status that the medium has to offer, as long as you’re willing to push the boundaries a little!

Classes offered will be the following:

•    T-shirt printing: Bring your own shirt or pick from one of ours!  We will be producing a few simple, ERIE based, multi-colored images of Roman’s design. Pick the design you want and make a shirt!
•    Mono printing: Roman will lead you through an exercise in the mono printing technique with completely black screens and combining and mixing different colors without images, just shapes and silhouettes.
•    Poster/Portrait printing: We will have available two pre-designed images that we will be printing onto paper with multiple colors.
